    Reliance, Aster extend financial support to families of deceased staff

    Reliance Industries (RIL) has announced that it will pay five years’ salary to the family of those employees who have lost their lives to COVID. Similarly, Aster DM Healthcare has announced that that it will pay monthly basic salary for 10 years to the families of its doctors, nurses and other staff who have died due to COVID-19.

    Reliance will also make an additional payment of Rs 10 lakh to the bereaved families of all employees who are off-roll and have died of COVID. The Company has also committed to take care of the tuition fee, hostel and book expenses of the children of the deceased, within India, till they graduate. In addition, RIL will pay 100 per cent premium for hospitalisation coverage for the spouse, parents and children of the deceased employees, till the children graduate.

    Aster DM Healthcare, which operates in India and the Middle East has lost about five of its employees to COVID till date. Of its over 20,000 strong workforce, at least 5,000 contracted COVID-19 since 2020. The doctors and nurses employed by this healthcare chain have attended to more than 2.83 crore COVID cases since the pandemic struck last year.

    The chain, which runs hospitals, diagnostic centres, medical centres and pharmacies in India and the Middle East has said that this benefit of 10 years’ salary to the families of the deceased employee will be extended to those staff members who may succumb to COVID in the future also.
