    +2% growth in fresher hiring in non-IT sectors: Report

    A report by Naukri.com reveals that February saw the hospitality, design and retail sectors hiring more freshers

    There has been a +2 per cent growth in fresher hiring, driven by hospitality, design, retail and other non-IT sectors. The hospitality and telecom sectors have seen maximum hiring of freshers with +23 per cent and +11 per cent growth respectively, as per the Naukri.com JobSpeak report for February 2025.

    A +15 per cent growth in hiring was seen for those with over 16 years of experience in the real estate, pharma and FMCG sectors. A growth of +10 per cent was seen in hiring of those with 13 to 15 years of experience, while a +6 per cent growth in hiring was seen for those with eight to 12 years of experience.

    The three states that topped the list in terms of hiring growth in February 2025 were Odisa, with +29 per cent hiring growth, followed by Madhya Pradesh with +20 per cent and Chattisgarh with +15 per cent.

    In terms of growth in fresher hiring, Kochi and Coimbatore stood out with +21 per cent and +11 per cent growth, respectively.

    The Naukri JobSpeak Index aggregates data from over 100,000 clients, representing over 70 lakh new job mandates every year. The report does not include gig jobs, hyperlocal hiring, or campus placements.

    As per the report, there is +21 per cent growth in AI/ML industry, followed by +20 per cent in hospitality/travel, +9 per cent in real estate, +8 per cent in FMCG, +5 per cent in pharma/clinical research, +5 per cent in oil and gas power, followed by +4 per cent each in auto/auto ancillary and healthcare.

    There has been a +19 per cent growth in the IT sector in emerging cities such as Jaipur and + 10 per cent in Coimbatore, even though the trend on the whole has been kind of flat.

    Growth of +31 per cent has been seen in unicorns from the BFSI space, while a +21 per cent growth has been seen in unicorns in the internet/e-commerce space.
