Insta360, A Chinese company, is offering cash to employees to encourage them to go on dates. This is the company’s way of promoting workplace happiness and help people feel connected.
According to South China Morning Post the firm is offering about Rs 770 (about 66 yuan) to each single employee of the company if they introduce themselves via a valid post on the company’s dating platform. That is not all. If individuals on the platform are able to find a match within the company and manage to date for a period of a month, they are each offered a higher cash reward, that is, 1,000 yuan or Rs 11,650.
The campaign is aimed at promoting happiness in the workplace and in doing so, address the low marriage rates in the country. The company hopes that the initiative will help employees establish better connections and feel a sense of belonging.
Not surprisingly, the participation rate has been rather high, with 500 posts already published on the platform since the campaign was launched about three months ago. It is reported that the Shezen-based tech company has already distributed almost 10,000 yuan as cash rewards to those employees who have shared their profiles. Dating bonuses, however, are yet to be paid since the launch of the initiative.
Do the employees appreciate their employer turning matchmaker? Some definitely do, while others feel it is not right make love all about money. Some employees of Insta360 joke that their employer is more keen than their mother to get them a partner. There are also some social-media users who hope that the government would introduce such incentives given the fact that China is facing a rapid drop in birth rates and an increasing number of unmarried youngsters.
