Airbus is poised for substantial growth in India. The company is planning to increase its direct workforce to over 5,000 employees and aiming to double its sourcing of services and components from the country to $2 billion within two years.
Airbus India highlighted this as a dynamic phase in the company’s partnership with India. The decision comes amid the inauguration of Airbus’ new headquarters and training centre in New Delhi.
Currently employing about 3,500 individuals in India and sourcing components worth €1 billion annually, Airbus plans to expand its sourcing volume to $2 billion. Alongside workforce growth, Airbus is partnering with Air India to launch a second pilot training centre and investing in a new campus in Bengaluru with a 5,000-person capacity.
Further, Airbus is set to manufacture the C295 military aircraft and H125 helicopter in partnership with the Tata Group. It is actively working with Indian research organisations to support the development of India’s first Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). According to Airbus, the “Make-in-India” initiative remains central to its strategy, with the C295 programme marking the first fully privately manufactured aircraft in India. The company expressed its commitment to advancing India’s military modernisation through potential local production of the A400M medium transport aircraft.
As a global leader in aerospace, Airbus continues to innovate in commercial and military aviation, headquartered in Toulouse, France, and is known for popular aircraft such as the A320 family and A350 XWB.
