Global commercial real- estate services firm CBRE is planning to significantly expand its digital and technology (D&T) workforce in India over the next two to three years. The company aims to increase its D&T employee count in the country by nearly 30 per cent from the current 1,500.

India plays a pivotal role in CBRE’s global technology strategy, with the Hyderabad centre serving as the company’s primary software- development hub for the Asia Pacific region. This centre, the second largest outside the US, has been instrumental in driving innovation, particularly in mapping, augmented reality and data analytics.

The company’s hiring plans were made by Sandeep Dave, the company’s chief digital and technology officer, during his visit to India. He spoke to the media in New Delhi on Tuesday.

CBRE’s hiring strategy in India is inclusive, focusing not only on top-tier institutions such as the IITs but also on talent from tier two and tier three universities. More than 25 per cent of the company’s global digital and technology team is now based in India, and this number is expected to continue growing to meet global demand.

India is seen as a key talent hub for CBRE, especially in technology, offering both talent availability and cost advantages. The company has made considerable progress in areas such as artificial intelligence, data science and data engineering in India, and has been able to export these innovations globally. One such innovation from India includes an AI-powered tool that scans and analyses market news to generate leads. This tool has evolved into a comprehensive workflow solution, integrating data from various sources and providing valuable insights, which will be scaled globally.

The firm’s focus on India as a strategic technology hub reflects its broader vision to harness the country’s tech talent and innovation potential, positioning India as a key player in its global operations.
