Ride-hailing company, Ola, plans to recruit at least one third of its workforce from college campuses. It will be hiring about 150 freshers from across campuses. The figure was almost half of this last year. It is reported that Ola is already collaborating with colleges to organise workshops, lectures on leadership by leaders, as well as internship programmes.

Ola is not the only company looking to hire freshers this year. Flipkart, Amazon, Bounce and Meesho are among the other big names that are gearing to recruit freshers for their workforces. The aim is to have agile and dynamic youngsters in the workforce, who will be able to handle the pace of work in the rapidly changing business environment today.

A year-long induction programme has also been designed by the Company for the new recruits. The programme will ensure that the new entrants go through a structured curriculum, which will help them settle into the workforce as professionals, which is a big change from their life as students. By March 2020, the Company hopes to have about 400 to 500 new employees in its workforce. Of these, at least 150 will be picked directly from the campuses. The Company believes that it is easier to groom people in the middle management.

Over the last few years, Ola has seen many of its senior executives quitting, including its head of engineering, corporate president for new initiatives, as well as its chief people officer.
