In order to equip the next generation of workers with essential digital and technical skills Cisco and Rockwell Automation have launched the ‘Digital Skills for Industry’ programme. The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to address India’s manufacturing skills gap.
The programme will integrate training across various domains, including cybersecurity, networking, IoT, data science, AI, programming, and automation technologies. Its primary goal is to boost digital literacy, attract talent to the manufacturing sector, enhance workforce productivity, and accelerate career growth. By focusing on upskilling, the initiative also aims to bridge the global digital divide, ensuring that India remains competitive in the global manufacturing landscape.
In July 2024, Cisco and Rockwell Automation committed to closing the skills gap across Asia-Pacific through various social-impact programmes. One of the key initiatives under this partnership is the Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad), which has trained more than 2.2 million students in India through collaborations with schools, colleges, and industry leaders. The academy offers courses in critical emerging technologies, such as cybersecurity, networking, and programming, to prepare students for future jobs.
Rockwell Automation is also playing a critical role in upskilling the manufacturing workforce. The company offers a range of training solutions to help enterprises and educational institutions develop industry-relevant skills.
These training sessions—delivered virtually or in classrooms—focus on fundamental and product-specific automation technologies. They are designed to be implemented directly on the plant floor or in educational environments to help businesses overcome workforce challenges and prepare for the future of smart manufacturing.
Through this initiative, Cisco and Rockwell Automation aim to support India’s vision of becoming a leading manufacturing powerhouse with a skilled and future-ready workforce.
