Adidas has confirmed that it is reducing roles within its India Technology organisation, clarifying that the move would affect less than 20 per cent of its tech workforce in the country.
The restructuring was communicated to employees at the Gurugram Global Engineering Tech Hub, which employs over 800 people, during a town hall held on 15 September. The facility also houses the company’s local marketing organisation and serves as a key centre for its global digital operations.
The news was first reported by Wocult, which claimed that around 350 employees across functions such as software engineering, data science and data engineering are impacted. The report has since been picked up by multiple national publications.
As per reports, the affected staff have been divided into two groups. One set of employees was issued exit letters on the day of the town hall itself, while the other has been asked to continue till December to facilitate knowledge transfer to other Adidas technology hubs.
Reports further stated that employees in the second group have been given time till 15 December to apply for other open positions internally, and those unable to secure a role would exit the organisation. The company has not publicly disclosed details of severance or redeployment support.
Adidas indicated that the decision was part of its efforts to align its operating model with evolving business needs, to simplify parts of the organisation and strengthen critical capabilities for long-term success.
It also conveyed that India continues to remain a strategically important market and that its Technology Hub would continue to support growth, innovation and digital transformation ambitions.
