Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has approved an increment of two per cent in dearness allowance (DA) for employees and pensioners of Rajasthan government. The increment comes into effect from 1 January, 2025.
With this hike, the DA of the employees will go up to a total of 55 per cent. The increment was recommended by the finance department and later approved by the chief minister. The move is expected to bring some relief to existing and retired employees struggling with inflation.
Beneficiaries of this increment include eight lakh employees of the state government as well as 4.4 lakh pensioners. This is inclusive of employees of Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad. The hike will be paid to the employees with their April salaries in the month of May. The arrears from January to March will go to the General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts of employees.
It has hardly been a week since the Central government increased the DA and dearness relief (DR) for its employees and pensioners by two per cent.
Dearness allowance is a financial adjustment that helps employees deal with the impact of inflation on their earnings. It typically represents a percentage of an employee’s basic salary and is critical for those with lower incomes. The calculation of DA takes into account various factors, including the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and prevailing economic conditions. It safeguards employees against inflation and enhances their purchasing power, in addition to boosting morale within the workforce
