A Delhi-based employee of Wipro has spoken about losing her job after working with the company for more than five years. The layoff took place on 29 June, when she was informed during a call with her manager and the HR team that her role as a marketing and communications coordinator for Wipro AI Solutions had become redundant.

The employee, Anukriti Vidyarthi, said the news came as a shock since she had not expected such a sudden change after spending nearly six years in the same workplace. She admitted that the loss of a regular monthly salary was one of her biggest concerns, but she is trying to view the situation as the beginning of a new chapter.

Her video on Instagram describing the experience quickly gained attention, with thousands of views and numerous supportive comments. Many users shared words of encouragement, saying layoffs have become common in the corporate world and urging her not to lose hope. Some suggested she take a short break to refresh herself before deciding on her next steps, while others encouraged her to consider starting her own venture.

Several people also shared their own experiences of being laid off, including one who said they had lost their job just days earlier. Comments ranged from reassurance that she would be fine to reflections on how difficult job insecurity has become in the corporate sector.

The emotional impact that layoffs have on employees, even those with long tenures, cannot be unseen.
