The National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) has appointed Arun Krishnamurthy as its chief human resources officer (CHRO), strengthening its leadership team as the sovereign-backed investment platform enters its next phase of growth. In his new role, Krishnamurthy will lead NIIF’s people strategy, with responsibility for talent management, leadership development, organisational capability, culture, and building a future-ready workforce to support the institution’s long-term investment agenda.
Krishnamurthy brings more than 25 years of global HR leadership experience across financial services, telecommunications, FMCG, IT, and technology. His expertise spans strategic HR, organisational transformation, business partnering, talent management, succession planning, leadership development, HR transformation, governance, and culture building across Asia and Europe.
Most recently, he spent nearly a decade at Barclays, culminating in his role as managing director & head-human resources – India, where he led the people agenda for more than 20,000 employees across the Investment Bank, Corporate Bank, Wealth Banking, and Global Service Centre in India.
Before Barclays, Krishnamurthy spent over six years with Vodafone Group in global leadership roles across London and Romania. As HR director, Vodafone Romania, he was part of the executive- leadership team, leading HR, internal communications, and property functions for a business of over 3,000 employees. Earlier, as global head of HR – Vodafone Shared Services, he led the people agenda for more than 12,000 employees across India, Egypt, and Hungary, supporting global finance, HR, IT, and operations.
Earlier, Krishnamurthy spent nearly nine years at Unilever, holding a series of HR leadership positions in India and the UK.
He began his career with Pidilite Industries as a management trainee and later deputy manager – human resources, before moving to Ramco Systems as senior product executive – HRMS, where he gained early experience in HR technology and software solutions.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Krishnamurthy is passionate about enabling superior organisational performance through highly engaged workforces and high-performance HR teams.
He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), UK, and holds a PGDM in HR and Finance from the Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), Pune.
