Axis Capital has appointed Anand Bardhan as executive director & head – human resources, strengthening its leadership team as the company sharpens its focus on people strategy and organisational capability. In his new role, Bardhan will lead the firm’s human resources agenda, with responsibility for talent management, leadership development, organisational design, employee experience, workforce capability, and building a future-ready organisation aligned with Axis Capital’s long-term business objectives.
Bardhan brings over two decades of experience across the banking, financial services, consulting, and technology sectors. He has developed expertise in strategic HR, talent management, business partnering, leadership development, organisational transformation, learning, and talent acquisition.
Prior to joining Axis Capital, he spent more than eight years at Axis Bank, most recently serving as senior vice president–head, talent acquisition & centres of excellence for over three years. Before that, he was head–business partnering and acquisition for more than five years, where he led strategic HR business partnering and talent acquisition initiatives across the bank.
Earlier, he served as talent lead–South Asia at BASF for nearly a year, driving talent-management initiatives across the region.
Before BASF, Bardhan worked with Axis Bank as senior manager – learning & development for over one and a half years, leading talent development, learning, and programme- management initiatives.
He was also associated with Korn Ferry for over two years as lead – HR & solutions delivery, where he drove talent-acquisition and talent-management solutions for clients across industries while supporting the firm’s internal HR agenda.
Bardhan himself is a strong believer in technology-enabled business transformation, having contributed to multiple large-scale transformation and turnaround initiatives.
He holds a PGDM in Human Resources, Strategy and Marketing from the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB).
