Following the layoff, Huawei’s team strength in India has reduced to 8000.
The telecom equipment maker from China, Huawei, has reduced its workforce by over 30 per cent. This downsizing is an outcome of merger and consolidation in the telecom industry, which is leading to financial stress in this sector, and also for Huawei.
The employees at Huawei were evaluated on the basis of performance, network shutdowns and declining telecom business and asked to quit. However, a few of the employees in the field teams were rehired on contract.
After downsizing, Huawei’s team strength in India has been reduced to 8000. The workforce is employed across functions in sales, supply chain, R&D and network engineering.
The Company has recently launched a whitepaper on digitalisation of telecom operators as well as enterprises using All Cloud Networks. The white paper titled ‘Digital Transformation with an All Cloud Network’ also takes a comprehensive look at India’s digitalisation journey and the role of telecom operators in enabling this transformation.
