Shalu Sood has moved up to vice president-corporate HR, talent & strategic initiatives at JSW Energy, continuing an internal progression that has steadily expanded her remit since she joined the company nearly five years ago.
Sood took on the vice-president role in April 2026. Her current mandate spans corporate HR, talent and strategic people initiatives, bringing together areas she has worked across during her time at JSW Energy.
She joined the company in December 2021 as head-HR, strategy, organisational development, performance & M&A. In that role, she worked on enterprise HR and organisational effectiveness, partnering with business leadership on transformation, performance and growth priorities.
Her responsibilities widened further in January 2026, when she became head-corporate HR, talent & strategic initiatives. Three months later, she moved into the vice-president role.
The progression builds on more than two decades across different sides of HR, from business partnering and organisational development to talent, performance, culture, learning and M&A.
Before joining JSW Energy, Sood was head of human resources-Network Software at STL-Sterlite Technologies, where she led the people agenda for the software business across geographies.
Her association with Sterlite Technologies had begun earlier. She spent nearly four years there as head-HR for a service delivery unit before moving to Cadila Pharmaceuticals as AVP-talent management. She subsequently returned to STL in the Network Software HR leadership role.
Earlier in her career, Sood held HR roles at Reliance Broadcast Network, Vodafone India, Alstom India and HCL Technologies. That journey has given her exposure to technology, telecom, media, pharmaceuticals, industrial businesses, infrastructure and energy.
At JSW Energy, those different strands now come together in a mandate covering corporate HR, talent and strategic initiatives, including organisation design, leadership development, succession, capability building, performance and rewards, change management and M&A integration.
Sood is an alumna of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and has also completed the Executive Programme in Leadership and Management from IIM Calcutta.
