A Bengaluru employee’s claim of being forced to resign weeks after relocating has ignited online discussion about nepotism in small companies. The worker shared on Reddit that they secured the role after months of unemployment and moved from their hometown to Bengaluru at personal expense, hoping for stability.
Shortly after joining, they realised it was a family-run firm. About two weeks later, the owner’s son came on board and began handling nearly identical responsibilities. The employee was then asked to submit his resignation.
“Terminated from job due to nepotism. Don’t know what to do,” the post read going to say, “I found this job after months of unemployment and now this.”
The account quickly drew reactions, with many users sympathising and urging the employee not to leave Bengaluru. Others debated the risks of working in family-run businesses where roles can shift abruptly when relatives join.
The incident highlights growing concerns around workplace fairness, job insecurity, and how personal ties can override professional boundaries in smaller organisations. While the company hasn’t publicly responded, the nepotism post has fuelled broader conversations on Reddit and news platforms about transparency and employee protection in family-owned firms.
