The Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC) is set to recruit 500 workers by February 2025 to strengthen its operations. The new hires will be deployed in the corporation’s 30 factories across Kannur, Thrissur, Alappuzha, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts.
This recruitment drive comes as part of KSCDC’s efforts to address labour shortages and ensure smooth functioning of its cashew-processing units. The corporation aims to bolster productivity amidst a challenging period for the cashew industry, marked by raw material shortages and operational disruptions.
The recruitment aligns with KSCDC’s plans to maintain uninterrupted production. Shelling is currently underway in the factories, with peeling and grading work scheduled to continue until mid-January. The timely arrival of 3,000 tonnes of raw cashew nuts from Mozambique will further support ongoing operations, ensuring sufficient workload for the expanded workforce. As part of its operational strategy, KSCDC has prioritised worker benefits.
In 2024, it increased employment days, provided wage hikes, and extended Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) coverage to all workers. The recruitment of 500 new employees reflects KSCDC’s commitment to creating job opportunities and sustaining livelihoods.
As 20 staff members and 185 labourers retired on 31 December, the upcoming hiring drive will replenish and expand the workforce. The corporation aims to integrate new talent while maintaining operational efficiency and meeting production goals.
This recruitment initiative underscores KSCDC’s focus on workforce expansion and operational stability, ensuring a steady production cycle and supporting economic activity in Kerala’s cashew sector.
