While some employees are let go at Amdocs almost every year, based on their performance and to increase the company’s profitability, this time the job cuts can be blamed on the increasing focus on artificial intelligence (AI).
The Israeli tech firm is prepping to launch a new GenAI & Data division under which all engineering, strategy, product and go-to-market teams will work together. The new division will reportedly be headed by Ilan Sade, who is senior vice president, Amdocs. The aim of this division will be to implement AI across the company. Clearly, Amdocs is determined to make AI a significant part of its operations.
The company presently has a global workforce that is about 30,000 strong. With this round of layoffs, many employees will be rendered jobless, including its team members in Israel. The exact number of employees that will be impacted is yet to be officially revealed.
However, what is known is that Amdocs is trying to integrate GenAI into its processes and services in pursuit of growth for the organisation as well as its customers. The company is trying to enhance performance, speed up innovation and create added value for its customers.
The company has already tasted success having embraced AI for some modernisation projects with certain clients. Amdocs is preparing to stay ahead amid the digital transformation wave that is sweeping across the telecom sector.
