State government employees in Madhya Pradesh are set to receive a 5 per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) over two phases. This increase will take the total DA for state employees to 55 per cent, bringing it in line with the rates offered to Central government employees.

From 1 July, 2024, there will be a 3 per cent hike, followed by another 2 per cent from 1 January, 2025.
The arrears from the revised DA will be paid out in five equal instalments between June and October. The announcement was made during a provincial conference of the Madhya Pradesh Gazetted Officers’ Association at Narmada Bhawan. The event began with traditional ceremonies and witnessed participation from key local leaders.

The state government underlined its focus on employee welfare, recognising the crucial role government staff play in driving development initiatives and ensuring that welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries. It also acknowledged the importance of maintaining high morale among employees and promised continued efforts to improve working conditions.

Efforts are reportedly underway to resolve the long-standing issue of stalled promotions, which have been pending since 2016. Plans are also on to fill vacant posts across departments to enhance administrative efficiency.

The state government highlighted recent achievements, including the successful hosting of the Global Investors’ Summit-2025 in Bhopal. Future plans include building gates at major entry points to the capital city, showcasing the state’s rich cultural legacy.
