Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), an IT sector employee union, has called on the Ministry of Labour and Employment to investigate prolonged onboarding delays for over 2,000 campus recruits by tech giant Infosys. According to NITES, these delays have stretched for more than two years, leaving the affected individuals in a state of uncertainty. Infosys has not commented on the issue.
The union described the situation as a ‘serious breach of trust,’ noting that many recruits had declined other job offers at Reliance on Infosys’s commitments. As a result, these individuals now face financial hardship and uncertainty due to the indefinite onboarding timeline.
NITES has requested the Ministry to investigate and ensure Infosys honours its obligations.
The union demands full salary payments for the period of delay. Furthermore, it has asked for an immediate access to Infosys’s employee- assistance programme to support these recruits’ mental and emotional well-being.
Additionally, NITES has urged Infosys to help the recruits find alternative employment opportunities within the company if onboarding remains unfeasible. The union has also called for swift action from the Ministry to protect the recruits from unfair penalties due to Infosys’s delays.
