Anil Kapoor has now taken charge as the director on the Board of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). An electrical engineering graduate from IIT, Roorkee, the 57-year old Kapoor was earlier handling HR and corporate communication for BHEL, in the capacity of executive director. He led all the HR processes including the transformational and core areas of HR in talent acquisition and management. He also handled employee engagement, industrial relations, HR policy, corporate social responsibility (CSR), medical services, rajbhasha, health, safety and environment, as well as learning and development. Along with all these areas, he successfully handled corporate communication as well.
With over three decades of experience, 37 years to be precise, Kapoor possesses in-depth knowledge in the areas of quality, technology and manufacturing in addition to human resource management. Being people oriented, Kapoor has helped implement many innovative and flagship projects for the Govt. of India, such as skill development, Udyan Shalini, Swachh Bharat and cashless initiatives.
Having also studied statistical quality control and operations research from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kapoor began his career with BHEL as an engineer trainee, at the corporate office in New Delhi. He later shifted to the heavy electrical equipment plant (HEEP) in Haridwar. Under his guidance and leadership, BHEL received various awards for HR excellence, safety and CSR. Kapoor himself is a two-time recipient of the BHEL Excel Award for innovative technological developments.
