Headquartered in Mumbai, DTDC Express, a leading logistics company, has announced a significant addition to its leadership team. Ankita Tiwari, a seasoned HR professional with over 23 years of experience, has been appointed as the new chief human resources officer (CHRO), effective this June. Tiwari’s extensive background in human resources promises to bring a transformative wave to DTDC’s HR strategies.

Before stepping into her new role at DTDC, Tiwari held the position of vice president of human resources at Pidilite Industries. During her two-year stint there, she managed a broad spectrum of HR functions, including talent management, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), employee engagement, field-force HR, compensation and benefits, operations, policies, and HR business partnering (B2B). Her tenure at Pidilite was marked by her innovative approaches and successful initiatives in HR.

Tiwari’s career is a tapestry woven with experiences across various industries such as manufacturing, specialty chemicals, logistics, and IT-telecom. This diverse background has equipped her with a unique ability to adapt HR practices to suit complex and varied environments.

Her longest and perhaps most impactful tenure was with BASF, where she dedicated over nine years. Ankita joined BASF in 2013 as the head of learning & development and performance management for the South Asia region. In this pivotal role, she was instrumental in driving cultural change and enhancing talent management. She worked closely with strategic stakeholders across different levels and geographies, ensuring that learning and talent practices were closely aligned with business goals.

At BASF, Tiwari was a pioneer in adopting evolving workforce dynamics and needs, such as DEI, digitisation, and automation. Her forward-thinking initiatives helped transform BASF into a learning organisation. In 2018, she advanced to the role of head of compensation & benefits for South Asia and the Asia Pacific region. As part of the Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence (CoE), she played a crucial role in revamping compensation structures and benefit policies, aligning them with global standards and market trends, and preparing for the upcoming new wage code for India. Her efforts ensured cost-effectiveness and a strong return on investment for the organisation.

Beyond BASF and Pidilite Industries, Ankita Tiwari has contributed her expertise to several notable companies, including ST-Ericsson, Maersk Line, and Larsen & Toubro. Her rich and varied career has shaped her into a formidable HR leader.

Tiwari’s academic credentials are equally impressive. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Banaras Hindu University and a master’s degree in personnel management from the Symbiosis Institute of Management, Pune. This solid educational foundation, coupled with her vast professional experience, makes her a valuable asset to DTDC Express.

As Ankita Tiwari steps into her role at DTDC Express, the company looks forward to the innovations and strategic advancements she will bring. Her leadership is expected to drive DTDC’s human resources to new heights, fostering a culture of excellence and inclusivity within the organisation.
