After over two years of serving Tata AIG General Insurance as chief technology officer and EVP, Anjani Kumar has taken up the role of chief digital & information officer (CDIO), Ather Energy.
As CDIO, Anjani Kumar will play a critical role in shaping the Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer’s digital strategy. He will help strengthen its technology backbone across product development, manufacturing, and customer experience, ensuring that technology continues to remain at the core of the company’s growth.
Backed by over two decades of experience, Kumar, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, served as a programmer analyst in the initial years of his career. He was with Cognizant Technology Solutions for over a year in 1999, before moving to IBM as project manager, in November of 2000.
Four years into this role, he was elevated to general manager. He played other global roles for the next almost seven years before being elevated to BU head in November, 2011.
May of 2014 saw him take up the role of senior GM (CIO), at Safexpress.
Kumar’s next stop was Collabera in September 2016. As global chief digital officer, he kick started the digital transformation for Collabera enterprise globally by establishing Digital GCC (Global Capability Center) in Bangalore.
From August 2018 to 2019, he was director and regional CIO, Nissan Motor Corporation. He then moved to Strides as chief information officer (CIO) in July of 2019.
It was in April 2023 that he came to be associated with Tata AIG as CTO and EVP.
In his new role at Ather Energy, Anjani Kumar, who is also an alumnus of London Business School, will oversee the development of digital platforms and products, strengthen IT infrastructure including cybersecurity, and enhance the company’s data-driven capabilities. He will also supervise teams across webtech, IT & security, MES, business intelligence, and digital engineering.
