EDME Insurance Brokers, formerly Aditya Birla Insurance Brokers, an Indian insurance and reinsurance broking firm, has appointed Vinod Krishnan as the chief executive officer of its treaty reinsurance vertical.

He will be moving from Gallagher Re where he was head of reinsurance since 2023. Before that he was director-client relationship management of the firm, based out of Singapore.

A mechanical engineering graduate, Vinod Krishnan is also an alumnus of the Insurance Institute of India. After spending a few years as graduate engineering trainee and project engineer, first in Chennai and then in Thailand, Vinod Krishnan took up the role of head of underwriting and reinsurance at Mittare Insurance, in Bangkok.
Seven and a half years later, he joined Aon Benfield, as head of business projects-Aon Re Asia, in 1999. Over three years into this role he was promoted to head of analytics-Aon Re Asia. Another elevation happened three and a half years later, making him vice president, in 2006. By 2010, he had reached the position of chief executive officer-Asia.
After a tenure of over 18 years with Aon Benfield, Vinod Krishnan moved to JLT Group, as chief executive officer, Asia, Reinsurance.
His next stop was Guy Carpenter, where he essayed the role of deputy CEO, South East Asia, Korea from 2019 to 2020. Then followed a stint as executive director, JB Boda & Co., Singapore.

Krishnan’s association with Gallagher Re began in October of 2021, as director-client relationship management. Just over a year and a half later, he was elevated to head of reinsurance.

In his new role at EDME Insurance Brokers, Krishnan will lead the creation and growth of EDME’s specialist global treaty reinsurance business, driving treaty placements, capital advisory, and analytics excellence. He will work closely with domestic and international partners to expand EDME’s global reinsurance footprint, enhance capacity access, and reinforce the firm’s market leadership.

Krishnan is backed by over three decades of experience.

Sanjay Radhakrishnan, CEO, EDME Insurance Brokers, is relying on Krishnan’s “deep expertise in Asian and global reinsurance markets” and is confident he will help “strengthen our global collaborations, broaden capacity access, and enhance our ability to design sophisticated reinsurance solutions that address the evolving needs of our clients.”
Jonika Jain, CHRO, EDME Insurance Brokers, believes, “His experience in building high-performing, future-ready reinsurance organisations aligns with our vision of scaling EDME into a world-class risk-advisory platform.
