After serving as vice president-human resources at HSBC for almost three years, Gunjan Kumar has now joined MongoDB as director-employee experience, India.

Armed with a BTech in Electrical Engineering, Gunjan Kumar went on to complete a PGP in Human Resource Management from Management Development Institute in 2013.

The initial few years of his career were spent as a manager-vendor development, at Tata Motors (from 2007 to 2011). He then interned with Tata Sons and SimplyHR Solutions before joining Indian Oil as human resources officer in 2013.

Less than two years later he moved to Myntra.com where he served as human resources business partner for over a year.
Amazon roped him in for the role of human resources manager (business partnering, HR compliance and ER), in June 2016. Over four and a half years into this role he was elevated to senior human resources business partner for over two years. Another promotion in January of 2023 made him regional leader-HR (ER). In this role, he led HR strategy and workforce governance for large-scale operations across the North & East regions. He also acted as senior HR partner to operations leadership on workforce planning, employee matters, compliance, and organisational stability during periods of rapid growth and change.

It was in September of 2023 that he came to be associated with HSBC as vice president-human resources. He provided global HR business partnering support while leading business change / global transformation COE for HSBC’s offshore infrastructure entities (GCCs/GSCs and Technology Centres) across eight countries.

HRKatha wishes Gunja Kumar all the best as he prepares to drive employee experience in India for MongoDB, the global tech firm headquartered in New York with over 5000 employees worldwide.
