HDFC ERGO General Insurance has elevated Mukesh Kumar as its new joint vice president-human resources. In this role, Kumar will help the company strengthen its human capital growth along with strategic people planning.
Previously, Kumar held the role of deputy vice president-HRBP & talent acquisition. He joined the company in the year October 2022. In this role,
Kumar was responsible for managing human resources business partner (HRBP) and talent acquisition roles across Pan India for technology, marketing, underwriting, liability, product, digital business group, call centre, motor sales, and rural agri business. Acting as a strategic partner to functional heads, he also provided guidance and support to hiring managers for acquiring quality talent.
Backed by over 20 years of experience in the HR domain, Kumar has worked with big brands such as Jio Reliance Capital, Reliance Group and Apollo Munich Health Insurance.
From leading talent acquisition at scale to embedding data-driven HR strategies, Kumar’s expertise lies in transformation and high-impact delivery.
Kumar joined Apollo Munich in the year 2010 as its manager-talent acquisition. After holding many key positions in his seven-year long stint with Apollo, Kumar then transitioned to the company’s AVP-HR role, in the year 2017.In this role, he was responsible for heading talent acquisition pan-India.
In 2017 he moved to Reliance Capital | Reliance Group, as its TA & head-HRBP-health business. In this role, he set up and streamlined the hiring process for both sales and non-sales functions using a structured interview methodology. Within a year, he successfully closed 126 corporate positions across Mumbai and Hyderabad and hired more than 500 sales employees across 37 locations within just five months.
Furthermore, he worked closely with all business heads to drive cross-functional collaboration, providing strategic recruitment support and creating frameworks around internal policies related to compensation, rewards and market competitiveness.
It was in 2019 that he joined Jio as head-TA.
Kumar holds an MBA from Sikkim Manipal University.
