The company hopes to continue its growth by improvising HR practices and talent management.

Novelis, the company which deals in aluminium rolling and recycling, has a new face to represent its human resources division.

In a statement by Steve Fisher, the interim president and chief executive officer, it was confirmed that HR Shashikant will join the company as senior vice-president and chief human resources officer.

Shashikant has previously served as the group executive president, global human resources, for the Mumbai-based conglomerate, Aditya Birla Group(ABG), of which Novelis is a part. The new position would require him to move to Novelis’ global headquarters in Atlanta.

In a career spanning over 29 years, Shashikant has held major leadership roles in global organisations. His tenure at ABG made him instrumental in setting up human resources systems, processes and centres of excellence across the Group. He has also been the recipient of ABG’s Outstanding Leader award.

An economics graduate from Karnataka University, Shashikant has a postgraduate degree in personnel management from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and has also been trained in organisational development by the NTL Institute for Applied Behavioural Science, at Silver Spring, Maryland.
