    Practo gets new global chief strategy & marketing officer in Shoumyan Biswas

    Practo, the Indian health services platform has appointed Shoumyan Biswas as its new global chief strategy & marketing officer. Backed by over 20 years of experience, Biswas has earlier worked with Tata Digital, as chief marketing officer and chief business and product head, group loyalty, for almost two and a half years.

    Having started off as a humble management trainee with Pepsi India, in 2003, Biswas came to be associated with Hindustan Unilever in 2004. He joined as area sales and customer manager and went on to become customer marketing manager, personal care in just three years’ time.

    In 2009, he was elevated to senior brand building manager, Vaseline. Less than two and a half years later came another promotion that made him senior regional marketing manager, Ponds South Asia, Unilever.

    After a long and successful tenure of eight years and ten months with Unilever, Shoumyan Biswas moved to Flipkart in April 2013.

    After serving as senior director, brand marketing for over two years, he was elevated to vice president, marketing in 2015. He became chief marketing officer in January of 2017 and by July of the same year, he had become CMO and business head of loyalty, partnerships and advertising. He spent nearly six years with Flipkart before starting an independent business consultancy in March 2019.

    September of 2019 saw him take on the role of advisor to the board, at ICICI Lombard. December of the same year was witness to Shoumyan Biswas joining Rebel Foods (formerly Faasos), as chief business officer (CBO), D2C business. Within six months he was promoted to business head (CBO), cloud kitchen brands and chief people officer (CPO).

    From 2022 to 2024 Biswas was with Tata Digital, as chief marketing officer and chief business and product head, group loyalty.

    In his new role at Practo, his expertise will be invaluable in advancing Practo’s mission to help people live healthier, longer lives through strategic clarity and driving innovation to improve health outcomes.

    He will be expected to lead Practo’s global business expansion and focus on deepening customer engagement and accelerating profitable growth in India. He will play a key role in shaping the company’s global growth strategy plans, with a strong emphasis on category expansion and a sharper consumer focus.
