Rajesh Nair quits Tata Motors after 28 years of service

Rajesh Nair, head – business HR for commercial vehicles, sales and marketing, customer care and spare parts, at Tata Motors, has put in his papers after spending 28 years with the Company.

Nair had joined Tata Motors way back in 1993 and had successfully held leadership roles in sales, marketing and new business development in the passenger vehicle business. Till 2011, that is, for more than 18 years, he served in various capacities, heading headed the utility vehicles business division, handling revenue and profits, creating and building the pre-owned car business, managing the Sumo and Safari brands, and heading sales and customer care for the Western region after foraying into international business.

For the next six years, he headed HR – talent acquisition, corporate and administration. Till 2018, he headed business HR for corporate functions, while simultaneously endeavouring to integrate, leverage and optimise HR shared services and admin functions. For more than three years, he headed talent acquisition for the organisation.

Since July 2018, he had been heading HR for commercial vehicles – sales and customer care, based out of Mumbai.

He played a significant role in the launch of the pre-owned car business for the Company.

Of late, Tata Motors has witnessed several senior exists. Recently, Pratap Bose, who quit Tata Motors as VP – global design, is reported to be considering joining Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (M.A.D.E) in the UK.
