Praveen Purohit is a classic example of one has stayed put in one organisation and grown up the ranks. Purohit joined Sterlite Cooper as a management trainee – the company was later merged with the Vedanta group. In a way he survived a merger and acquisition as well. Now Purohit has been named as the Dy. CHRO of Vedanta. It is quite a rise in 15 years.

Purohit shares with HRKatha, “In my new role, I will lead and drive the overall HR strategy of the group in the areas of leadership development, talent management, management in place, HR analytics and digitalisation, entry-level hiring, employee engagement, as well as rewards & recognitions.”

At the age of 34, Purohit proved his command, dedication and passion towards his work by being tagged as the youngest GM. Since then he has been spearheading high-impact strategic and transformational interventions.

Talking about the larger goal, Purohit says, “Data is the new oil, and I plan to concentrate on high-level analytics and digitisation that will provide us with actionable insights on areas of improvement for us, especially in, leadership development, performance excellence and attracting the best talent from campuses and ensuring that we effectively engage our key leaders and talent for superior business performance delivery.”

A postgraduate in human resource management from DGVC (Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College) Chennai, Purohit has won many awards and accolades from the industry.
