Thales, a global company dealing in defence, aerospace, and digital security technologies, is gearing up to expand its global headcount by 9,000 in 2026. Of these new recruits, 450 will be based in India.
The recruitment announcement does not come as a surprise because for the past couple of years the company has been consistently recruiting at least 8,000 people a year to support growth across its three main business sectors.
In India, Thales has recently onboarded over 120 talented engineering interns at its Engineering Competence Centres in Noida and Bengaluru, reflecting its commitment to nurturing future-ready talent, strengthening collaboration with academia and contributing to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.
Of all its hires in India, 33 per cent were women in 2025.
The company is looking for talent in specialised areas such as hardware, software, and systems engineering, with recruitment focused on the company’s Engineering Competence Centres in Bengaluru and Noida, as well as other functions.
Internal mobility is also an area where Thales has not compromised. In 2026, around 3,500 employees are expected to move into new roles within the company, supported by its wide range of business areas and global presence. To strengthen skills and expertise, Thales follows a “Learning Company” approach, offering over 35 internal academies where employees can continue to develop professionally.
Globally, about 40 per cent of new hires will join engineering teams, working in fields such as software, systems engineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data. Another 25 per cent will be assigned to industrial roles, including technicians, operators, and engineers.
This large-scale recruitment drive highlights Thales’ commitment to growth, innovation, and workforce development, while reinforcing its position as a major employer in both India and worldwide.
Through its “Vocation Makers” programme, Thales is actively engaging with young people aged 6 to 18 to spark their interest in science and technology. This is achieved through site visits and educational presentations in schools. In 2025, the Group met with 2.5 lakh students worldwide, ranging from primary to high school levels.
The company’s STEM outreach in India also includes dedicated programmes such as an initiative designed for our employees’ children and their wider social circles, to inspire the next generation to choose careers in science and technology.
