Telangana is set to do all it can to make its local workforce globally competitive. The state government has entered into a memorandum of understanding or MoU with Corning——the American tech multinational, specialising in materials science—to make the local talent more skilled and capable as per global skills standards. The collaboration will see more skilling and innovation programmes designed and implemented for the benefit of the local workforce.
The scope of the collaboration is in alignment with Telangana’s goal to become a global hub for innovation, development and research, especially in the chemical and pharmaceuticals space.
Corning has also partnered with Dr Reddy’s, Laurus Pharma and the University of Hyderabad along with support from the Telangana government for the Flow Chemistry Technology (FCT) hub. The company has expressed its eagerness to develop and implement FCT in the state.
With the help of the state government, Corning has been able to successfully establish a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical glass tubing unit, which will start production by June of next year, that is, 2025.
This facility, which integrates the company’s latest velocity glass-coating technology, will help boost productivity and bring about efficient operations in Telangana’s rapidly expanding pharmaceutical space.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Minister for Industries D Sridhar Babu have had fruitful discussions with senior members of the Corning team, including Ronald Verkleeren, senior vice president, Emerging Innovations Group, Corning.
