The demand for chartered accountants or CAs is definitely growing. The proof lies in the success of the placement drive at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which has managed to place 8,000 chartered accountants. These CAs from the November 2023 and May 2024 batches were placed via the Institute’s campus-placement programme in 2024, conducted across nine main centres as well as 20 smaller centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The highest domestic package offered was that of Rs 26.70 lakh per annum (LPA).
While a whopping 241 companies participated in the 60th edition that took place in May-June, about 4,782 CAs were placed, with Power Finance Corporation offering Rs 26.70 lakh per annum as the highest salary package. The 59th edition (in Feb-March 2024) saw just 140 companies participating in the previous drive and only about 3,002 candidates being placed. The 59th cycle also witnessed Diageo India offering the highest salary package of Rs 29 lakhs per annum. The average salary, however, went down from Rs 13.24 to Rs 12.49 lakhs per annum.
The overseas placement programme is scheduled to take place later this month, which will help Indian CAs bag positions across firms in Asia, Europe, the UAE and others.
Chapters of ICAI exist in even the US, the Middle East and Africa.
Last month, the ICAI had announced the results for the CA Final 2024, wherein 11,500 candidates had cleared the exam. While 66,987 candidates participated in group one of the CA final exam, 49,459 took the exam in group two.
