Isgec Heavy Engineering has picked Mahua Chakrabarty to play chief human resources officer (CHRO). The industrial machinery-manufacturing company with 5,500 employees across India and overseas, will see Chakrabarty further strengthening its people practices, fostering an empowered organisational culture and supporting its growth.
Having begun her tryst with HR back in 1999 as an HR and training manager with Quipo Infrastructure and GE Capital, Chakrabarty joined Hilti Group as director-human resources and training. Over nine years later, she moved to Xebia as director-HR.
Her next stop was Semac Consultants as group CHRO-India, Middle East and Africa. Over the next two and a half years she successfully built an aligned and highly productive great place to work.
Her association with Maccaferri, a civil-engineering company, began in 2019. There, she spent seven and a half years handling human resources across Asia Pacific and linking people strategy to business growth.
Chakrabarty’s appointment signals Isgec’s intent to deepen its HR leadership bench at a time when industrial manufacturing faces both global competition and workforce transformation. With her cross regional experience spanning India, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific, she brings a tested ability to align people strategy with business growth. For Isgec, the move is not just about filling a leadership role but about embedding a culture of empowerment and retention across its 5,500 strong workforce. As the company scales, her mandate will likely focus on strengthening organisational resilience, building future ready talent pipelines, and positioning HR as a strategic lever in sustaining growth momentum.
