A slew of amazing initiatives for the Reliance industries employee amidst this COVID-19 outbreak proves that humanity does exist.
Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries announced that the employees earning less than Rs. 30,000 a month will be receiving their salaries twice a month. The Company has taken the step to help “protect cashflow and mitigate any overwhelming financial burden”.
Apart from the employees at Reliance grocery stores, petroleum outlets and those responsible for maintaining the Jio network, the rest have all been asked to work from home in this crisis-like situation.
However, reports also state that Reliance grocery stores will be working at revised hours, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Taking inspiration from Mukesh Ambani, a similar move was made by N chandrashekharn, chairman, Tata Sons.
“During this time of crisis, our Group companies commit to ensuring full payments to the temporary workers and daily wage earners who are working in our offices and at our sites in India for the month of March and April, 2020, even if these workers are not able to work due to either quarantine measures, site closures, plant shutdowns or other reasons,” said Chandrasekharan in a statement.
Meanwhile, a circular from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs said that corporate spending for various activities related to Covid-19, including promotion of healthcare, preventive healthcare, sanitation and disaster management will be treated as CSR.
