Jensen Huang, CEO, Nvidia reportedly reviews the salaries of the employees in his 42,000-strong workforce. And he does it for every cycle!
How does he do it? He employs AI / machine learning (ML)tools to help go through the recommendations sent to him. However, final call related to the compensation is taken by him personally.
Why does he do it? Well, he believes that if the people in the team are taken care of, everything else falls into place. He shared the idea behind his management approach during a podcast.
Is Huang generous with the process? He reportedly is because that’s how most of his employees (at least 76 per cent of the workforce) have become millionaires, now that the value of the company has spiked to more than $4 trillion. About 50 per cent of the workforce reportedly has a net worth of at least $25 million thanks to the employee stock options offered by the company!
Clearly, employees across levels at Nvidia are paid exceptionally well.
Huang is of the opinion that small, skilled teams are capable of the most unique inventions and the maximum level of creativity. He shares that the focus of every employer should be to be fair to the employees, to motivate them and ensure that they feel a sense of belonging. Only then can there be success and profits.
Thanks to Jensen Huang’s approach Nvidia has transformed remarkably in recent years and has become a name to reckon with in the artificial intelligence domain. Its chips and graphics processing units (GPUs) are used even by GPT-5, OpenAI’s latest large language model.
