Motive, the AI-powered integrated operations platform, is gearing to expand its research and development (R&D) team in India. It will be hiring at least 300 engineers, product managers, and designers over the next two years. It is also on the lookout for the right people to take on senior leadership positions.

While at least 20 AI engineers will be onboarded by the end of 2025, over 50 will be added by the end of 2026. Motive is actively seeking experienced professionals with a proven track record of building and scaling global products for senior leadership roles. These leaders will be expected to make informed decisions for the R&D department.

As an important part of its talent-acquisition strategy in India, Motive is partnering with top IITs and IIITs, for internship programmes. With a strong focus on hands-on experience, interns get to work on real-world, production-grade AI and software-development projects. The top performers are regularly absorbed as full-time employees.

Clearly, Motive sees India as a hub of tech and artificial intelligence (AI) talent and believes in the critical role India plays in its global growth strategy.

Motive’s team in India has grown to almost 250 employees since 2020 when it was established here. This team develops cutting-edge AI models and enterprise software solutions that power industries including transportation, construction, energy and field services worldwide.

In line with the Indian government’s AI mission, Motive is preparing to build foundational AI models trained on diverse datasets. Its team will contribute to developing AI solutions tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities within the Indian context, fostering innovation, saving lives, and transforming physical operations.

“Our India team is tackling some of Motive’s most complex customer challenges, developing AI-powered technology that is revolutionizing physical operations and driving measurable impact for businesses worldwide,” said Jai Ranganathan, chief product officer, Motive. Ranganathan acknowledges, “With India’s exceptional engineering talent and AI expertise, India has become a vital talent hub for Motive as we scale AI across our platform and expand into new markets.”

Motive’s India team is driving the vision, strategy, and execution of some of the company’s most advanced AI-powered technologies, including the AI Dashcam Collision Detection, with its first responder feature. This prevents accidents and improves outcomes when they occur, because of a first-of-its-kind AI-driven emergency response system that ensures commercial vehicle drivers receive life-saving assistance faster. The team is also responsible for the AI-powered fleet card that controls fuel fraud, enabling customers to reduce costs, prevent fraud, and uncover hidden savings. Motive’s India team is setting new benchmarks for fleet safety and efficiency with AI-powered fleet-management solutions, too.
