Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) had witnessed a drop in headcount for the first time in 19 years in FY24. Now, by adding about 5,454 people to its team, the Indian multinational has reversed the headcount drop it had been experiencing for a while.

The present workforce strength of TCS is 6,06,998, and the attrition rate has fallen to 12.1 per cent in the first quarter of FY25.

As per the quarterly result for the first quarter of FY25, the Indian multinational reported a nine per cent year-on-year increase in net profit, which stood at Rs 12,040 crore, reports ET.

The company continues to concentrate on employee engagement and development, which has resulted in employee retention and a great performance. For the first quarter, the firm posted about Rs 62,613 crore in revenue, which was 5.4 per cent more from the same quarter in the previous financial year.

The multinational has been investing in innovation and artificial intelligence, and has been working to expand its delivery centres worldwide, including Canada, Europe and Latin America.

Its employees have been spending an average of 87.1 learning hours in the fiscal year 2024 (FY24) to AI, as part of TCS’ broader strategy to enhance its capabilities in generative AI (GenAI). In May, it was reported that TCS is already involved in more than 200 GenAI projects and the acquisition of new deals worth $13.2 billion.
