There is good news for the employees of Capgemini in India. The French multinational company has announced promotions and salary increments for all its employees in the country, at a time when most other companies are downsizing.
In April, the Company had given increments to 70 per cent of its staff in India, in the A and B grades. Now, the remaining employees, that is, the middle and senior-level staff will be getting hikes, w.e.f July.
The hikes and promotions come at a time when big names in the IT space have frozen increments and promotions in the wake of the economic crisis brought about by the pandemic.
Interestingly, Capgemini, which offers consulting, technology, professional, and outsourcing services has a 125,000 strong workforce in India, which accounts for more than half its global workforce.
While the Company is not considering any reduction in staff, it will probably ask some employees to leave based on the performance reviews, as is the usual practice every year. Employees who do not fare well in terms of performance are allowed a couple of months to improve their performance, failing which they exit.
Capgemini India has already recruited over 9,000 new hires in the April-June period and successfully onboarded 3,000. The pace of hiring has slowed down only because the exams have been delayed across college campuses in the country owing to the lockdown and related disruptions. The Company has, however, assured that it will honour all the offers it has made till date.
