The salaries for the month of August 2025 for all Central government employees in Maharashtra are to be disbursed today, that is, 26 August, ahead of the Ganpati festival (Ganesh Chaturthi) that begins tomorrow and will continue for ten days. A memorandum to this effect was issued on 22 August 2025, by the Ministry of Finance.

The salaries of employees of Defence, Posts and Telecommunications will also be disbursed in advance.

Similarly, the Central government employees in Kerala have also been granted their August 2025 salaries in advance, in time for the festival of Onam, which will be celebrated on 5 September.

The Ministry of Finance had issued an official memorandum dated 21 August to this effect. The industrial staff of the Central government deployed in the State of Kerala will also receive this advance.

As per the memorandum, the disbursement of salary, wages and pensions is to be considered as an advance payment, which will be adjusted post determination of the full month’s salary/pension of the each employee or pensioner.

Meanwhile, the Government of Kerala has, despite the financial strain it is facing, decided to hike the festival bonus for both serving state government employees as well as pensioners. As a result, Kerala government employees and teachers will receive Rs 500 more this year, making their total festival bonus equal to Rs 4,500.
