Starting today, that is, 1 July 2024, employees of the Emirates Group will receive a four per cent hike in basic salary. It hasn’t been long since the Group announced a 20-week bonus following record profits, in May 2024.
Amongst other changes in the remuneration and benefits of its employees, the Emirates Group has granted a four per cent hike in transport allowance, UAE national retention allowance and flight crew working hours. There is a 10 to 15 per cent increase in sustenance and lodging allowances too.
That is not all; the maternity leave has also been increased from 60 to 90 days with more nursing breaks for new mothers every day. The paid paternity leave has also been increased from five to 10 working days.
Employees of select grades will get more long-term sick leave along with a 10 per cent hike in education support allowance.
The Emirates Group intends to recruit 5,000 cabin crew in 2024, including flight attendants, pilots and engineers. Early this year, the the Dubai-based airline had revealed plans to conduct recruitment drives across 460 cities this year. Candidates with experience in the hospitality and customer-service space will be preferred, although Fresh graduates who have interned or have held part-time jobs before will also be considered. Only those who have passed at least Grade 12 may apply, provided they have a minimum height of 160 cm tall and can reach a height of 212 cm.
