Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar announced that KSRTC employees will now receive their salaries on the first day of every month, starting immediately. This new initiative aims to enhance employee satisfaction and financial stability across the workforce.
The announcement was made at the inauguration of KSRTC’s new Emergency Medical Unit at the Thampanoor Central Bus Station on Wednesday, 06 November, 2024. The minister confirmed that all arrangements have been made for the timely salary distribution.
The newly inaugurated Emergency Medical Unit at Thampanoor Bus Station is a 24-hour facility offering free primary care services to both passengers and crew. The unit is part of an ongoing initiative to enhance passenger safety and convenience. In collaboration with the Society for Emergency Medicine India and NIMS Medicity, KSRTC plans to extend the medical unit to 14 additional bus stations across the region.
Addressing long-standing operational issues, Kumar also outlined strategic plans for the next six months. Efforts to lease KSRTC’s canteen facilities, which had previously fallen through due to a lack of suitable partners, have now been redirected. Instead of leasing, KSRTC is collaborating with established hotels to provide quality meals for passengers and staff, aiming to improve overall service quality.
In addition to healthcare initiatives, the event drew attention to KSRTC’s commitment to promoting cultural and road-safety awareness. A short film titled ‘Double Bell,’ produced by KSRTC’s Thalassery unit, was also launched to educate the public on road safety and accident prevention.
