To cultivate young talent in the telecom sector, Ericsson has unveiled its ‘EricssonEdge Academia Programme,’ across Southeast Asia, Oceania and India. The initiative aims to build a pipeline of tech-savvy professionals who will enhance both their career prospects and the industry’s competitiveness

The EricssonEdge Academia Programme is designed to prepare pre-final year students from over 40 leading universities in countries including India, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. It aims to equip them for careers in the evolving telecom industry.

Spanning six months, the programme offers a mix of in-person, instructor-led sessions by Ericsson experts, followed by web-based learning modules. Focus areas include 5G, Cloud and AI technologies, providing participants with the skills necessary to navigate and lead in the telecommunications landscape.

Furthermore, participants will undergo regular assessments to ensure consistent progress. Upon completion, the participants will be considered for Ericsson’s Graduate Recruitment Programme by the company.

This programme also strengthens ties between academia and the telecom sector, providing students with exposure to cutting-edge technologies and direct insights from industry leaders. Ericsson’s initiative is set to contribute to the development of a future-ready workforce, furthering innovation and growth within the ICT field.

Priyanka Anand, VP and head of people, Southeast Asia, Oceania & India, Ericsson, highlights how the EricssonEdge Academia Programme exemplifies ways in which the industry can collaborate with academia to develop the next generation of telecom professionals. “By equipping students with the right skills, we are not only enhancing their career prospects but also ensuring the continued advancement and competitiveness of the industry,” she added.

Anand also emphasised that the programme is intended to foster curiosity, promote innovation, and inspire a passion for technology among participants.
