The MahaYuti-NDA government, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved a significant decision regarding the disbursal of government employee salaries. The government has allowed the opening of accounts at Mumbai District Central Cooperative (MDCC) Bank. This move could stir political discussions.
The decision was finalised during a Cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister. Along with handling salaries, the government has also permitted state-run public sector undertakings (PSUs) to deposit funds with the MDCC Bank.
In another development, the Cabinet approved allocating land in Mumbai to MDCC Bank for constructing a cooperative sector training centre. Additionally, the bank has been authorised to open personal accounts for pensioners and manage extra funds from government undertakings and corporations.
The meeting also explored introducing an ‘e-cabinet’ system. This digital initiative aims to reduce paper usage by providing proposal drafts on tablets. The step aligns with the government’s push for sustainable practices.
Fadnavis announced plans to integrate all state social- development corporations onto a unified IT platform. This effort seeks to enhance the ease of living for citizens. To oversee this initiative, a four-member committee has been formed. It includes senior officials from urban development, higher education, rural development, and Pune’s divisional administration.
These decisions reflect the government’s focus on modernisation and financial reforms.
