Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has successfully concluded its three-week Toyota Youth Connect programme, aiming to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Spanning all 30 districts of Karnataka, the initiative reached over 7,700 young people.
Toyota Youth Connect has become an essential platform that merges academic learning with industry practice, helping students see the value in skilled trades and boosting their confidence in their abilities.
In collaboration with more than 70 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), the programme introduced students to the automobile industry. Furthermore, it highlighted the importance of skill development and apprenticeship for a career-ready workforce.
The programme emphasised the significance of industry-specific skills and workplace cultures. It also aligned with national initiatives such as Skill India and Make in India, reinforcing Toyota’s commitment to supporting India’s skilling ecosystem. Through this initiative, TKM continues to play a crucial role in shaping a future-ready workforce.
Participants expressed newfound clarity about their career paths and the skills required for employability. They appreciated learning about apprenticeships and the practical knowledge needed to thrive in the technical field.
Building on this success, TKM plans to enhance Karnataka’s skilling ecosystem in the next phase, focusing on improving institute offerings and sustaining impact through CSR support. TKM’s long-standing commitment to skilling is evident in its flagship initiatives, including the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) and the Toyota Technical Education Programme (T-TEP). These programmes, which have been helping economically-disadvantaged students for over a decade, align with the goals of Skill India and are essential to India’s growth and prosperity.
