Chubb and Nordex to drive job creation with Chennai GCC and R&D expansion

Chennai’s hiring market is set for a lift as two global majors expand their presence in Tamil Nadu.

Insurance leader Chubb and wind energy firm Nordex Group are scaling up their Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and R&D operations in the city, opening up hundreds of jobs across engineering, technology, data and manufacturing support functions.

Nordex is actively recruiting in Chennai for specialised roles. Current openings include specialist–blade reliability engineering for candidates with 6-15 years in wind or composites, HSE engineer positions requiring 2+ years experience, and graduate engineer trainee roles in blade production for freshers. The company, which employs over 10,400 people worldwide and runs production units in India, is betting on Chennai talent to support its global operations across 40+ markets.

Chubb is also hiring in Chennai for data associate, data scientist, analyst and principal engineer positions. The insurer has positioned the city as a key delivery hub focussed on upskilling and long-term job security for employees.

The expansions add to Tamil Nadu’s strong GCC momentum. The state hosts 350+ GCCs, with 300+ in Chennai. The city recorded over 25 prr cent growth in GCC headcount in 2023-24, outpacing other metros, as firms opt for larger campuses to enable scale.

Officials point to Chennai’s engineering talent pool, infrastructure and policy support as reasons for the surge. With peers such as Lennox also growing their Chennai GCC from 900 to 1,500 staff, the city is emerging as a dual hub for IT and core engineering jobs.

The new hiring by Chubb and Nordex is expected to strengthen Chennai’s GCC ecosystem through 2025-26, creating skilled employment in insurance tech, renewable energy engineering and related services.
