Sigachi Industries, a global manufacturer of pharmaceutical excipients and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), has roped in Atul Dhavle for the role of chief people officer (CPO). He was earlier with Granules India as chief human resources officer (CHRO).
An engineering graduate from Nagpur Univesity, Atul Dhavle went on to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Business Management (PGCBM) from XLRI Jamshedpur in 2010.
The initial years of his career were spent as a junior executive, HR and training, at Mahindra Rise, working out of Mumbai and Nasik from 1992 to 1996.
He moved to DuPont to play deputy manager-human resources, from 1996 to 1999, relocating to Chennai for three years.
His next stop was Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Hyderabad where he spent 11 years leading various initiatives. His last designation there was senior director, human resources.
He was associated with Welspun Group as senior vice president and head-human resources from June 2010 to March 2011, leading global HR operations of Welspun Corp (India, Saudi and US) while reporting to the MD.
March of 2011 saw him back at Dr Reddy’s as vice president-HR, TOC and operational excellence. He stayed on for over seven years till Granules India roped him in for the role of chief human resources officer in May of 2018.
Over four years later, he moved to Bharat Forge as senior vice president-HR, based out of Pune.
Dhavle was back with Granules in March 2024 serving as CHRO.
Now, in his latest assignment at Sigachi, Atul Dhavle will work closely with the Board and leadership team to align human capital strategy with the company’s long-term growth objectives. He will focus on strengthening leadership capability, shaping organisational design, aligning talent and capability development with business priorities, and reinforcing governance and people processes. He will also be tasked with ensuring cultural coherence and organisational resilience as Sigachi expands across businesses, geographies, and operating models, while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement and trust.
