    Hinduja Group rejigs HR leadership

    Ashok Leyland, the commercial vehicle manufacturer and part of the Hinduja Group has announced the appointment of Sanjay V Jorapur as its new president – HR. He steps into the shoes of Amanpreet Singh Bhatia, who will move to Mumbai in a senior role at the Group.

    Jorapur joins Ashok Leyland from HFCL, a fibre optic cable-manufacturing company, where he worked for almost four years as the Company’s group president – HR.

    A veteran HR leader, Jorapur carries more than 25 years of experience in the field of HR. In his long career, Jorapur has spent time in different sectors and domains such as technology, engineering and automation.

    In the initial stages of his career, Jorapur honed his management and HR skills working in companies such as Mindtree and Wipro. He thoroughly honed his skills in the area of talent acquisition, recruitment, project management, HR operations, talent management and employee relations.

    It was in 2002 that he joined Honeywell India as the head – HR at Honeywell Technology Solutions. There, Jorapur went on to serve nine years and also grew as an HR leader rising up the corporate ladder. He headed various facets of HR at Honeywell in various capacities before finally moving on. His served his last position as the country HR director for India.

    Jorapur’s next stop was Crompton Greaves as EVP & global head of HR for two years. He then moved to Hero Motocorp as its CHRO for four years.

    “People are the foundational pillars for us to achieve our vision,” said Dheeraj G Hinduja, executive chairman, Hinduja Group, expressing confidence in the “three decades of rich experience” that Jorapur brings to Ashok Leyland.

    He is sure that Jorapur “will drive the People agenda in line with contemporary global practices and steer the Company’s human resources strategy in the current transformational context”.

    Bhatia, on the other hand, is also a seasoned HR leader with 29 years of experience in the HR domain.

    Before joining the Hinduja Group, Bhatia was the group CHRO at Escorts for over two years, based out of the National Capital Region, India. He has also worked as executive VP & group head – HR, for VE Commercial Vehicles for more than seven years. From 2006 to 2009, he was the country head – HR for Intertek Group.
