Hyatt has roped in S Vidyashankar to play the role of regional vice president of human resources (VP-HR), India and Southwest Asia. He moves from Grand Hyatt Mumbai where he was director of human resources since 2016.
An alumnus of SFIS College of Management Studies, S Vidyashankar began his professional journey with Hyatt Regency Mumbai, as assistant personnel manager, In August of 2002. He played this HR generalist role for over six years before switching to Accor Hospitality in December of 2008. There he served as human resources manager for over a year.
In February 2010 he joined Hyatt Regency Pune as personnel manager, for a year and five months.
Grand Hyatt Mumbai appointed him human resources manager in July 2011.
Vidyashankar’s next stop was Grand Hyatt Goa where he served as director of human resources from November 2012 to July 2016. There, he was responsible for a team of eight in the HR and training function. For well over three and a half years he drove initiatives for achieving the established HR business goals, in addition to driving engagement initiatives.
He was back at Grand Hyatt Mumbai for a second stint in 2016, when he took on the role of director of human resources.
February of 2019 was witness to Vidyashankar returning to Grand Hyatt Goa for a second stint, this time as area director of human resources.
Now, in his latest assignment, thanks to his over 23 years of experience, of which a significant number of years was spent with Hyatt itself, Vidyashankar brings deep insight into building strong teams and cultures. He will be tasked with shaping Hyatt’s people strategy across the region, supporting the company’s continued growth and expanding footprint.
He will be required to work closely with regional and hotel leadership teams to strengthen leadership capability, nurture talent, and foster a culture that reflects Hyatt’s purpose and values. He will focus on creating consistent, future-ready people practices that help teams thrive as the business evolves.
