After having served RP Sanjiv Goenka Group for five years, Janesh Kumar has now taken up the role of CHRO at Genus Power Infrastructures.

An alumnus of Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, this mechanical engineer began his professional journey as a production line manager with Bajaj Auto Ancillary, in 2002. Two years later, he moved to JSW Steel, taking up the role of HRBP-talent acquisition and management. For two and a half years, he led hiring strategies and managed over a thousand recruitments annually. He also executed large-scale entrance exams for 2,400+ engineering candidates.

July of 2008 saw Janesh Kumar move to Hyderabad to take up the position of HR business partner at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories. Till June of 2012 he looked after HR HR for a 400+ member research team, overseeing talent management and organisational development initiatives among other responsibilities.

His next stop was Abbott, where he served as HR business partner for almost a year and a half, based out of Mumbai.

Janesh Kumar’s association with Airtel began in October 2013, when he moved to Hyderabad to join as head HR-AP circle. Almost three years into this role he was elevated to chief human resources officer-Airtel Payments Bank. This role saw him working out of Gurugram for over three and a half years.

It was in July of 2020 that he took up the role of chief human resources officer (FMCG), at RP Sanjiv Goenka Group. Over four and a half years later, he was promoted to VP-corporate HR, in January 2025.

Now, Genus Power Infrastructure, the manufacturing company and supplier of end to end smart metering solutions, is confident that “the energy, agility, and people-first innovation Janesh will bring to Genus” will help “build a vibrant, forward-thinking workplace”.

Janesh Kumar’s LinkedIn post says, “I’m stepping into a role where I’ll be sparking innovation in sustainable tech, blending creativity and social impact. Something that excites my soul, challenges my limits, and lets me contribute to a purpose I deeply believe in.”

HRKatha wishes Janesh Kumar all the best on this new journey, where his love for HR tech and Gen AI will serve him in good stead.
