IndiGo has announced the appointment of Kanwaljeet Singh Bakshi as its new chief human resources officer (CHRO), effective 20 July, 2026. He takes over from Sukhjit S Pasricha, who stepped down after serving in the role for more than eight years.
Bakshi moves into the position from InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of IndiGo, where he was group head-HR and a member of the Executive Committee.
This role saw him providing strategic and operational leadership across the group, integrating HR practices and driving organisational transformation.
With a career spanning over 34 years, Bakshi brings wide-ranging experience across aviation, hospitality, telecom and manufacturing. He has previously led HR at IndiGo Airlines between 2006 and 2013, and also held senior leadership roles at The Oberoi Group, Bharti Airtel, Usha India, and HMT. His expertise covers talent management, leadership development, culture building and organisational effectiveness.
An alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur, where he earned a postgraduate degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, Bakshi also holds a postgraduate degree in Physics. Known for his philosophy of understanding people rather than managing them, he has championed coaching, mentoring, and building strong learning cultures throughout his career.
His return to IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation) comes at a crucial time, as the airline undergoes leadership changes and focuses on strengthening its people strategy to support growth and resilience.
Meanwhile, Sukhjit S Pasricha has indicated on social media that he will be moving into a new role very soon in a sector tied to the nation’s growth and manufacturing ambitions.
All the best to Kanwaljeet Singh Bakshi!
